Link anchor text
The "clickable" part of the link structure. Using keywords in the link anchor text of your inbound links will help your search engine rankings for those keywords.

Example:
This is the link anchor text for this link

Link building
Requesting links from webmasters of other sites for the purpose of increasing your "link popularity" and/or "PageRank."

Link exchange
Placing a link to another website on your own site in exchange for a return link back. Also known as reciprocal linking.

Link farm
A web page created for search engine ranking purposes that consists entirely of a long list of unrelated links. These types of pages are penalized by almost all search engines, including Google. Otherwise known as free for all links pages (FFA).

Link popularity
A measure of how "popular" a web page is on the Internet as measured by the number of inbound links pointing to your web page. Link popularity is one of the main factors used to help determine search engine rankings.

Linking
Placing a link to another web page (usually on another web site) on one of your own web pages.

Links
URLs placed within a web page so that when they're clicked on the browser is served with a different web page, often on a completely different web site.
• Link (Backlink): A link directed to a web document from another web document. When plural (backlinks), the term may refer to a list of all links leading to a document or a domain.
• Link (Internal): A connection between two documents in the same web site or domain.
• Link (External): A connection between two web documents housed at separate domains.
• Link (Reciprocal): An agreed upon exchange of links between two web documents or domains. (Site A places a link to Site B so Site B places a link to Site A to reciprocate)
